Today is Ash Wednesday, the day that begins Lent. I was embarrassed, because this morning my son asked me precisely what Lent was and I couldn't really explain it to him.
Every year when Ash Wednesday rolls around, I can't help but remember either last year or the year before when one pastor gave me his sermon title for the bulletin that night. It was: "On Making an Ash of Yourself." I thought it was funny. The senior pastor didn't think it was funny, however and he wound up asking him to change the title.
It's still raining. I was nearly an hour late for work this morning. People can't drive around here when it rains. There were 11 wrecks this morning that were reported. It's a nightmare getting to work when the roads are like that.
